Omaha is a fairly new poker variation, which has developed from Texas Hold'Em in the 1980s and has a similar game play. Unlike Texas Hold'Em every player is dealt 4 cards and an Omaha hand is always made up of 2 of the 4 cards of a player and exactly 3 of the 5 community cards. Up to 10 players can take a seat at a gaming table
In the last betting round 2 hand and 3 community cards decide: Whoever has the best 5 card combination using 2 hand cards and 3 community cards or to bluff the other players into giving up.
Both players to the left of the dealer must make their ante - the first player to the left of the dealer bets the small blind (half the minimum bet) and the next player makes the big blind (minimum bet). The blinds are calculated automatically by the game.
Let's get started: Every player then receives 4 hand cards each, which are not viewable by others. The next players can then either buy into the game as well, call or fold and exit the game. When the first phase has been completed, the 3 community cards, also known as the flop, which all players can use to complement their hand, are placed face up in the middle of the table.
The laying of the flop starts the next betting round. Raise the stakes, call, check (neither bet nor fold) or fold? The first player to the left of the dealer starts. He/she is followed in turn by all remaining players.
The option "check" is only available, if no bets have been made in the current betting round. As soon as a bet is made the remaining can only call, raise or fold. If all players choose to check, then the next card will be dealt.
Players can match players bets by betting the same amount. If a player wishes to raise, they must bet the big blind value as a minimum.
After the second betting round, the fourth community card, or “turn” is laid on the table.
The third betting round follows the same procedure as the previous betting rounds and ends with the fifth community card known as the "River".
The players, that are still in the game will take part in the final round of betting and there will be a showdown. In the last betting round 2 hand and 3 community cards decide: Whoever has the best 5 card combination wins. If players have the same hand, the “kicker” - one or several additional cards - will be used to determine the winner.
Once the showdown is over, the role of the dealer moves over to the next player in a clockwise direction and the positions of the players change accordingly. A "D" will be displayed next to the current dealer.
